And check out OUR NEWLY LISTED ITEMS. This is a rare original promo poster sheet advertising the first issue of Alpha Flight from 1983.
It features artwork by the legendary John Byrne. Byrne is a true legend spanning 4 decades in comics as both a writer and artist, and is known for his classic runs on the Uncanny X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Alpha Flight, and She-Hulk, as well as for revamping the Man of Steel during DC's overhaul of the Superman character in the 1980's. This is a truly classic straight-on pin-up image that includes Vindicator, Sasquatch, Aurora, Northstar, Marrina, Shaman, Snowbird, and Puck.
NEW FROM MARVEL COMICS - CANADA'S HOTTEST NEW SUPER-HEROES ALPHA FLIGHT ON SALE MONTHLY FIRST ISSUE ON SALE IN MAY! The poster is in very good condition, with no pinholes, tears, or other major wear commonly seen on vintage posters or prints, but please note it does have a bend at the top right side edge that got cut off in the scan and does not really show in the picture. It measures approximately 10 1/2" by 13 3/4".
It is not as thick paper stock as a heavy poster, and is closer to a regular paper print, but with a smooth coated surface. This is a very cool and rare comic collectible, as they were for promotional use and were not made for resale. Promotional posters like this one were not mass-produced or available to the general public, and were often thrown away, so to find a classic one like this that is more than 30 years old and has not been pinned with tacks or taped is rare indeed. This is an outstanding piece that would look fantastic framed, and would be a great addition to the collection of any Byrne or AF fan. Check out our other auctions for more great items.
