Offered for sale is the original artwork for the comic strip LANCELOT by "Penn" (writer; actually Frank Ridgeway) and Paul Coker, Jr. Art Type: Daily comic strip original artwork. Medium: Pen and ink over pencil/graphite, with Zip-A-Tone (dot matrix plastic overlay) on art board. Publication Date: December 3, 1971. Dimensions: 17" wide by 5" tall (board dimensions; image slightly smaller). Description: This is the original artwork for the 12-3-1971 daily of the newspaper comic strip Lancelot, written by Penn (pseudonym of Frank Ridgeway) and drawn by Paul Coker, Jr. The strip, drawn in his instantly recognizable style by the long time MAD Magazine artist (and animation designer) Paul Coker, featured newlyweds Lori (who is an eternal optimist and head-over-heels crazy about her new hubby) and Lance (who is simply the epitome of a thoughtless husband). This daily features Lance enjoying his new air-chair while Lori does all the work, and Lance has the nerve to complain about the noise she makes in keeping the chair inflated. Why would Lori put up with this insensitive clod? A funny gag beautifully rendered by Paul Coker. An excellent example of a rare original strip the daily strip only ran for just over two years, from March 16, 1970 through April 29, 1972. The art is in excellent overall condition.
